Yoga Therapy

When it comes to eating disorder recovery, I believe we must include the body in the process of healing our minds, and yoga therapy is one way we can do that. Through centering exercises, discussion, gentle movement, breathing practices, yoga philosophies, and goal setting to foster healing, yoga therapy teaches you to reconnect with your body and create coping skills for recovery and life.

What You Will Learn

Each 60-minute online yoga therapy session will be tailored to meet your specific needs, goals, and intentions and includes a combination of discussion, yoga poses, breathing exercises, mental techniques, meditation, relaxation, and lifestyle education. Our work together will be goal oriented to support you in your recovery and life, and care can be coordinated with your other outpatient team members. Yoga therapy is a wonderful complement to your work with a therapist, dietician, and other care providers. Here at Yoga for Eating Disorders we have a highly experienced and compassionate team of yoga therapists, all of whom have lived experience with eating disorders and recovery and are honored to support you on your journey.

Here’s some things you will learn in yoga therapy sessions:

  • Yoga poses/shapes to learn to reconnect with your body.

  • Breathing and grounding techniques to help calm spinning thoughts, urges, overwhelm, and anxiety.

  • Yoga concepts to offer new ways to think about your thoughts, actions, and body.

  • How to observe yourself and others instead of judge.

  • How to be present.

  • How to exercise personal agency and choice.

  • The power of mantra and meditation.

  • And so much more.
